A challenge plays!

The end of school that is.  Friday was the last day of school and I am now on “vacation” for 7 weeks.  Woo Hoo!!!  Seriously, this teaching gig is pretty sweet.  The pay is not the greatest but the benefits are pretty good.  I do have a lot of things to do in this 7 weeks and I’m thinking I won’t have much time to spend blogging.  I’m going to try and blog once a day and rotate the blogs so none are left to die completely.  I will be blogging on my teaching blog because I’m going to detail all the things I plan on trying next year.

Well, as embarrassing as this is that is all I have to say.  I’m going to head out on a run before it gets too hot here….

So we got the word yesterday that we will close on the house on Friday. OMG!!! There is so much to do between now and Friday. I have to get the rest of the house packed up and ready to move. I have to call the utilities at both places to have them turned off/on. We have gas here so the gas company has to come and empty the tank and give us credit. I have to pack up all my clothes and only leave out what I’m going to wear for the rest of the week. I don’t think I have any hip hop clothes but I’ll look. I talked to psycho couple yesterday twice and I’ve decided I’m not taking their calls anymore. I will call them tomorrow and let them know exactly when they can start moving in. I originally thought to let them move in as we were moving out but after the way they acted, no way. I am going to be completely out, the house will be clean and I will take pictures before I let them start moving in. I don’t trust them anymore, they really are psycho. So once the house closes on Friday we want to do the electrical and get the fence up before we start moving. There is so much to do I can hardly think of it all. I’m rambling. I’m going to go get ready for work now

Which puts us that much closer to Thanksgiving. Yea!!!! I have stuff to do this weekend but it’s not going to be crazy busy. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to relax for little bit. I do want to look around for plane tickets to California. Airfare to San Francisco is crazy high. I could go to Seattle and drive to SF cheaper then flying in there. I could book an entire vacation to the Outer Banks and have my choice of Outer Banks vacation homes for less then flying to SF. It’s nuts. So hopefully I can find something. I did sign up for that Bing alert. Everyday I get an email telling me the current low price to SF and what the price is expected to do – go up, go down, or stay the same. For the last week it’s been telling me to wait, prices are expected to go down, but they haven’t. How long do I wait exactly????

I find myself in a very unusual position tonight.   I have nothing to do.  Nothing.  The animals are all taken care of and settled for the night.  Hubby is out.  I have no school work, okay there is some I could do but it’s not pressing.  I have nothing to do.  It is so rare that this happens.  Usually there is a list of things to do but tonight I can take off completely and not feel guilty.  Wow!!  What a great feeling.

On the nun front, my appointment is Thursday at 2:10 – yes, odd time.  I’m going to wear long sleeves but do nothing about the tats that show.  I figure if they are that against them better to get it out up front.  By the same token if they don’t have a problem with the neck and the hand, maybe the wrist won’t be too bad.  Anyway, I’m not going to lie or hide, I’ll just try to cover the biggest one.  Now, what do I say when they ask what church I attend??  There is always something to worry about

This weeks theme is plastic. I chose this photo because someone may be able to tell me the meaning of this. I was in a cemetary and saw this plastic holder wrapped around a head stone with paper in it. The person died in 1903 so I find it hard to believe it’s anyone who knew them and the paper inside was all faded so it was impossible to tell what it was originally. I do not understand the purpose of this. Does anyone know???

I just had a long conversation with my mentor teacher.  Usually we are running around doing all kinds of stuff and don’t have the chance to sit and talk.  Even today I was entering grades and talking.  It’s always something.  Anyway we were discussing next semester and how it was going to go.  I’ve been torn because I would really like to find a job for next year, but I didn’t want to go making plans with her and then leave at the last minute because I got a job.  So we talked about that and she understands that I might find a job, possibly even at the last minute, and she’s okay with that.  So I feel better knowing that she knows I’m looking around. 

Then we talked about exactly what I was going to teach next semester.  Looks like I’ll do Human Physiology (which I know nothing about) and Honors Biology.  That will be good.  It will be a real stretch for me but I think it will be good experience.  So I can start working on the syllabi and start laying out lesson plans etc. 

Also, she wants me to teach another unit before school is over.  I’m very excited about that.  I learned a lot from this last one and I now know somethings I would do differently so it would be good to get back in there and try again.  I hope we go with it.  It sure beats the heck out of any of the jobs in sales I’ve been looking at.

I’m excited and I’m relieved that all of that is out in the open. I’m looking forward to teaching some more and I’m really looking forward to next semester.

I took this yesterday. It was a beautiful, clear day just made for taking scenery pictures. It was cold though (for Hawaii) and windy. Today is similar, clear and cold though not windy. I’m off now to see who else played today.
