My animals are creatures of habit. They are not necessarily on a time schedule, but they are on a routine. When I get up in the morning, Rocco gets up. I make coffee while Rocco goes outside and does his morning thing. I uncover the birds, Rocco comes back in and lays down by the food bowls. I put the food out then I hear Nala talking to get up, due to her hip problems she needs help getting up in the morning. I go in and get Nala and those 2 settle down to eat breakfast. Meanwhile, the birds are singing away for their breakfast, so I feed them. As soon as I’m done with the birds the dogs have finished their breakfast and are ready for their first biscuit. At this point I can now go on with my morning.
It’s the same way every morning. It happens earlier on the weekdays and later on the weekends but it happens every morning.  I’ve been on vacation this week and although the animal routines go on as usual, mine didn’t. I found myself spending inordinate amounts of time on the computer. I would walk around trying to think of something to do. I took a nap almost every day. Now, while this was a nice break from the routine of work, I found myself out of sorts. My back hurt from so much sitting and laying down. I feel like a slug even though I kept up my workout routine. My eating and water intake all went to hell.
This morning I got up and have to start getting back into the routine because it’s back to work tomorrow. So I jumped into my normal Sunday routine, laundry, house cleaning, biscuits, etc. I feel much better and got more accomplished in the last 2 hours then I have in the last 2 days. I guess I too am a creature of habit.
We are not so different from our pets

Yes, I agree. It cannot be denied that our lives follow a pattern. That makes it mechanical. That makes it not extraordinary.
