Once in a while I get products sent to me to use and write a review on. The other day I received some wine. It was from the Gold Medal wine of the month club. They wanted me to knock back some wine and then write a review. Ummm…… okay
These 2 bottles arrived in a foam packer that protected them from damage. Very Nice. They were also wrapped in a tissue type paper and tied with ribbons. This was extremely attractive and made a lovely presentation when opening the shipping box.
Also included was a newsletter, a little info about the wine club and a gift card with my name on it. It was really lovely. Turns out there was a bottle of white wine and a bottle of red, specifically a Zinfandel and a Chardonnay. Now, in the spirit of full disclosure, I’m not a big wine drinker. I do however have friends who are. Once the wine finally arrived, I called them up and a date was set for some wine drinking.
I very much enjoyed the chardonnay. As I said I’m not a big wine drinker but I do like a glass of good white wine now and again. This was very good. It was not too sweet or too dry, either of which I don’t like, but very fruity tasty with no after taste. Everyone agreed this one was great.
The Zinfandel is another problem. I don’t drink red wine. Ever. For any reason. Ever. But, luckily, my friends do. The general consesus was that this was an excellent wine. They raved about it and repeatedly remarked on how good it was. Everyone was asking where they could get this wine, they wanted more. Definitely a hit with my friends.
So, my review? Excellent. Everything from the packaging, the initial presentation, to the wine itself was wonderful. There was a card for us to score the wine and return it. I’m not sure that got done, we did consume 2 bottles of wine after all. The prices indicated on the enclosed materials indicated monthly shipments would cost between $39-$43. All those in attendance said that was a bargain for the quality of the wines sent. One of the guests took the information on the Gold Medal Wine Club and is considering joining. Apparently the thought of getting 2 good quality wines every month for that price is too irresistible.
The general consensus was that it was well worth the money, the presentation was attractive enough to send directly as a gift, and the wine was outstanding. Sitting and listening to them rave all night almost made me want to take up wine drinking
